Different Types of Penis Pump
Although all penis pumps serve the same basic function, there are various styles to choose from, each offering unique benefits. While some pumps are not as safe as others, it’s crucial to choose a pump that matches your preferred method of operation while ensuring safety. Air pumps, for example, utilize air to create a vacuum and can be either hand-pumped or electric. However, air can be unpredictable under pressure, potentially causing the penis to bend, bruise, or blister.
Hydropumps like the Bathmate Hydro7 use water instead of air to draw blood into the penis. Hydropumps are safer to use than a dry pump because the warm water acts as a cushion to protect the penis from injuries during the pumping process and water is uniform under pressure. Hydropumps are pumped manually by pressing down to create a vacuum or using a hand ball system like on the Xtreme hydropump.
Automatic pumps use an electric pump to create the vacuum but many users prefer the control they have with manual pumping.
A manual pump is pumped by the user, either using a handball pump, a grip handle pump or by pumping up and down repeatedly.
Are Penis Pumps Safe to Use?
While penis pumps like those we offer at Bathmate are designed with safety as a priority, it’s important to be aware of potential side effects. These can include light bruising, temporary swelling, or a feeling of coldness. Such side effects are generally mild and can often be mitigated by following proper usage instructions. Penis pumps are extremely safe to use, as long as they are a good quality penis pump, and used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. All of our Bathmate Hydro penis pumps are built in the United Kingdom, and we take great pride in the high quality product that we produce. Each component is tested to 100,000 usage cycles, which is the equivalent of approximately 10 years of regular usage. Not only that, our stringent testing procedures ensures that all the products that we use are skin safe, and do not exceed the vacuum levels permitted by EU regulations. It is this vigorous testing procedure that gives Bathmate the confidence to say that our products are 100% safe to use.
However, just because we want to ensure that our customers always enjoy safe penis pumping, this may not be the case for everyone. When buying a penis pump, always ensure that the pump is the highest quality. A number of counterfeit Bathmate pumps have made their way onto the market, but they are certainly not endorsed or created by Bathmate. Nor have they undergone any of the important tests that need to be carried out to ensure that the product is safe. Using a cheap or counterfeit penis pump can result in poor results, inadequate suction, vacuum leaks, poor quality materials, breaking easily and more seriously, penis pump injury.
Using a Penis Pump Safely
In order to use a penis pump safely, always read the manufacturer’s instructions before you start, even if you are an experienced pumper. Each product works slightly different and therefore, operational instructions and safety recommendations may vary. Make sure that you read the important safety warnings before using each product, particularly if you suffer from erectile dysfunction, or you are taking medication.
Secondly, double check that you have bought the correct size of penis pump. Penis pumps come in different sizes and it is important that you have the right size for you.
Men using penis pumps must not be under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs as this may impair your ability to judge safe levels of vacuum, and lead to serious penile injuries.
Before using the pump, sit down and take a few minutes to relax. A Hydro pump is used in the water, so taking a nice warm bath will help you to relax before use.
Before pumping, ensure that you have two hands free, and that they have full mobility and strength. If the mobility in your hands is inhibited, this will hinder the removal of the pump once you have achieved the desired erection. Furthermore, low mobility may also prevent you from reacting quickly in the event of an emergency.
Depending on the type of dick pump you have, you may need to trim your pubic hair to ensure that you can create a seal, or prevent the hair from getting painfully trapped as you pump. In addition, a water penis pump will not require the use of lubricant to create the seal as it is used in the water. However, other models may require a compatible lubricant. Again, this information can be found on the manufacturer’s instructions.
Warm up in the shower or bath so that your testicles are lower that your penis. It is very important that you do not get them trapped.
Check that the vacuum valve is closed before filling the vessel and make sure you can easily access the valve.
Pump slowly and take a break between each pump to check that the pressure is comfortable and that your penis has had time to adjust. If you suffer from decreased sensation in the groin area, do not use a penis pump as your ability detect injury may be impaired.
After pumping for 2-3 minutes, depending on your level of comfort, press the valve to slowly release the vacuum and remove your penis. If you are experiencing any pain or strange discolouration, do not continue to pump. However, if you look and feel okay, spend a few minutes massaging your penis to encourage the blood to circulate before placing it in the chamber and pumping for a further 2 cycles.
Once you have completed pumping, use a cock ring to prolong your erection. However, you do need to remove the ring every 30 minutes to give your penis a ‘break’.
If you experience any pain that seems out of the ordinary, or abnormal discolouration, please seek medical assistance immediately.
