Happiness is something that can only be quantified by the person experiencing it. By asking someone if they are happy you will get a real measure on their sense of worth – their sense of well-being. Happiness is important, it should be more important in fact than monetary objects and things we possess.
Depression and anxiety is on the rise and it’s not hard to see the reasons behind it. Through social media we are fed picture perfect lies and snapshots of life that have been photo shopped, the search for knowledge and understanding has been masked by the desire for likes and shares. You only see what people choose to share and this is not a realistic look at the life most people live. The pressure on younger people and the advanced state of technology has left people feeling disconnected, think about that for a second. The devices we hold in our hand have the power to connect us to so many people globally yet we feel alone.
The pressures of day to day living and the fast paced lifestyle we try to keep up with can leave you feeling physically and emotionally drained. We have a wealth of information at our fingertips and can find ourselves lost, scrolling for hours at a time as we try to makes sense of the world we are living in. We no longer have the same attention spans, seek the same things or have the same outlook as the many generations that came before us. Things seemed simpler back then – maybe this is the problem. Maybe we need to get back to our roots and form a deeper understanding of what truly makes us happy.
Back to basics
Go outside. No phones. Let’s get back to nature together, make memories. The pursuit of happiness may be a long and winding road but remember to enjoy the journey, be thankful for what you have and try to learn to see the beauty of life in each situation. Engage positively and love with all your heart. The energy we give off will come back to us – break it off with toxic people, the negative air that surrounds them will bring you down.
As we grow we learn to understand what makes us tick, what makes us happy. Its easy to be caught up in the mundane day to day but in order to find true happiness we must make time for ourselves. Fulfil our dreams and do the things that we enjoy.
Start small
Make a playlist of your favourite music and set some time aside to think about your life. Grab a pen and a piece of paper and keep distractions to a minimum. This is about you, the way you feel about your life and the direction it is going in. You have a number of options – write about the positive aspects of your life and the negative things you would like to change or just simply vent – the process can be strangely therapeutic. Another thing you could do is to write a list of things you would like to experience or list of goals you want to achieve.
By quantifying your thoughts they are given purpose. Before you achieve something in life the thought itself must be conceived.
Make plans
Make plans and keep them. Have an almost regimented approach to your goals and dreams. Naturally some things won’t go quite to plan but embrace the challenge and reinvent yourself in to a bona fide winner. Remember when we told you to enjoy the journey – well its time like these when you can really embrace the change and progress forward in life as you pursue the ultimate feeling – happiness.
Find the formula that works for you. By making and keeping plans you will begin to engage in more meaningful conversations that will ultimately feed your soul. When we surround ourselves with the right kind of people we excel. Having a support network of like-minded people will make it much easier to succeed in life. We mentioned something about energy earlier – this is very important to finding the state of happiness, the energy we omit will become the force that drives us – think happy, be happy.
No pressure
Do not pressure yourself. Go with the flow and accept life for all it can be. By putting unnecessary stress and pressure on yourself you will not be able to focus on the goal itself – happiness.
