For the guys this can mean a beer belly and the dreaded man boobs – or moobs as they are commonly known. A common mistruth is that only women care about how they look – this isn’t the case, it is well known that both men and women can be insecure about their bodies from time to time, it’s just main stream media that seems fixated with the female form.
So fellas, you’ve taken a look in the mirror gone through the usual Where did it all go wrong spiel and decided to do something about it! Where do we start? What is it? It is called gynaecomastia.
You can research diet, training regimes and download fitness apps – here on the official bathmate blog we pride ourselves on giving you the necessary tools to make positive life changes. That being said – we are going to give you an easy to follow step by step run through on how to lose those man boobs!
Ultimately, you will need to find out what works best for you personally but with these handy pointers you should be well on your way to success. Feeling better about yourself will spill over into every area of your life, your overall health will improve and your confidence levels will soar meaning you truly are living your best life.
What are the signs?
They can be pretty obvious… they vary from a tiny amount of extra tissue around the nipples to bigger breasts in general. It doesn’t necessarily affect both breasts in the same way either – one may be larger than the other – even one can be affected. The reason why it happens is hormones, puberty, older age, steroids, obesity. Men who take steroids while they work out and do not take a break for a while usually suffer from gynaecomastia. Hormones are not a joke and you need to keep it in your mind that you should you be taking something like steroids, you really need to consider stopping straight away. Secondly, as a man, when you get older, you produce less testosterone. As an old man you will also have some more body fat and that is why your body will produce some more oestrogen. What can also cause gynaecomastia? Some of the medicines you are prescribed, especially for things like heart disease, also – illegal drugs – such as cannabis, drinking alcohol, kidney failure or liver disease, Klinefelter syndrome (a rare genetic disorder), lumps or infection in the testicles. Sometimes, the breast tissue can be tender or painful, but this isn’t always the case.
What can be done?
The first thing you should do is to change your diet and get a check-up with your doctor.
This is obvious that a proper diet is the most important thing in weight loss. Take a picture of yourself the first day and start to eat better. Then check your results after a month. Nowadays, people are not aware of how much they eat and how it affects their health. You can try to avoid some foods to keep your heath better: sugar, sweets, crisps, snacks etc. If you see the problem is not going away it is probably your hormone levels and your doctor will be able to help you with it.
Sometimes we just have to get a check-up with our doctor even if we feel nice and healthy. Your body will be happy if you check in with your doctor regularly make sure you do this regularly if you have changed your diet, at the start and in the middle.
You can also try body weight training.
Body weight training, known as one of the best options, because it allows multiple muscle groups to work out at the same time, resulting in more calories burned. What kind of exercises? Body push-ups, squats, mountain climbers. Did you know that push-ups also work your arms, shoulders, back, core, glutes, legs and more and more?
WEIGHT LIFTING
The best exercises for your muscles are ones that build muscle. You need to know that your muscles need a lot of energy. The thing that most people do not know is that when you have more muscles, your body can burn more calories while resting.
There are also 2 more options to get rid of man boobs. First one is surgery to remove the excess breast tissue and the other one is medication to adjust a hormone imbalance.
As we recommended at the beginning, if you are not fully sure what is going on with your body you should get a check-up with your doctor. He can send you to get some blood tests and other necessary examinations and finally know exactly what’s going on. Your doctor can give you some proper medication to take and recommend other ways to get rid of the dreaded moobs.
