Instead of fear and dread! Monday should not feel like it’s the end of the World but the beginning of a new chapter. It may feel like a challenge at the start but challenges can be a good thing every once in a while. They keep you on your toes! So what are the best ways to get the most from your weekend? We have rounded up the 4 ultimate ways to ensure you are well rested, relaxed and prepared for the week ahead
Detox
Having a detox period every once in a while is a perfect way to bring some balance and harmony back into your life. As we said previously it’s very easy to get to the end of a long week and want to let your hair down over a few drinks with friends. No matter how pure your intentions are this can easily turn into an all-night session! To get the most from your weekend why not begin a detox? By Monday you’ll be feeling like a brand new person! Start by looking at your alcohol intake and the foods you are eating. Make your own smoothies and cook a meal from scratch. Its therapeutic, food is one of the best things to experience so why not invite your friends over instead of meeting down the pub?
Breathing techniques
Teach yourself some different breathing techniques, you'll be amazed at the calming effect this can have. You can also continue this throughout your working week. When we are under pressure or stressed the first thing that can change is our breathing patterns. This can alter the amount of oxygen travelling in our blood and have an adverse effect on our health. There are various different techniques you can teach yourself so try and find something that will suit your needs. It’s strange that something so simple can have such a calming effect! aaaaand breathe!
Mobile phones
Now this might be the hardest one on the list, we need our phones. They connect us to our friends, we use them to find the best local restaurants and we have them handy in case of an emergency. The problem is, we are so connected through social media and the likes that we can find ourselves needlessly scrolling through feed after feed and before you know it, blam! The weekend has gone. Its unhealthy to spend prolonged amounts of time staring at our screens and being fed Unrealistic body images, faddy diets or terrible news from around the world. As with detoxing your body, try and use your phone less this weekend. Consider it as a detox for the mind! Try and limit the amount of time you spend on social media and the type of posts you are engaging with. It will be difficult at first but the quicker you can teach yourself this new behaviour the happier you will feel. Phones are wonderful pieces of technology when used correctly but more and more people find themselves caught up in the shoot and share rather than the experience and making memories. Your health is way more important than likes and shares.
Sleep well
Having a good nights sleep is the ultimate tool in your rejuvenation kit. It is so so important for a number of reasons. It allows the body to relax and repair. Actually, by using your phone less and avoiding alcohol you will be doing yourself so much good when it comes to getting a good nights sleep in. Rest is important to all aspects of your health. Experts say you’ll need around 8 hours sleep to be in optimal health but this also means it has to be the right kind of sleep. There are various stages and depending on diet and alcohol consumption etc. the quality of sleep you will get will vary vastly. Combining all 4 of these tips will help you to rejuvenate and get the absolute best out of your weekend, leaving you prepared for the week ahead!
